Day 2 of school visitingDiscussion for the games Teaching the students our games Breaktime Fashion Show Gift exchange One last picture together with everyone! :D Although there were some hiccups during our telematches, it still went smoothly as we had persevered and improvised to make the games more fun and challenging. Through the games that we have taught them and they taught us, we have managed to promote teamwork and bonded not only with ourselves, but with the vietnamese students too. All edgefield students have brought gifts and bookmarks to give to the vietnamese students, some of the vietnamese students have also brought along some tokens of appreciation to give to us in return. In these two days, we have felt appreciated as they have placed in alot of effort for us and it warms our heart to know that they have had such enthusiasm for us. Lunch at Mekong REST STOP Restaurant! Water Puppet Show ReflectionsThis puppet show is a performance on the myths and legends about Vietnam's culture. The puppeteers requires at least 10 years of experience in order to be qualified to carry out the performance due to complex movements and coordinations of the team along with the voice actors and different puppets and their movements. Through this performance, we learnt cooperation and synchronisation is essential for the play to be successful. This has set me thinking about our own heritage and culture that the different ethnic groups has and what may happen to it in the future if we do not preserve it like how the Vietnamese are doing so and it will cease to exist in the next few generations, thus losing our heritage as Singaporeans. This is not what we want to see happening in Singapore, in order for this not to happen, we have to influence people to start appreciating more of their history and traditional cultural life, starting firstly with ourselves and then to others gradually. Dinner at Lion City Halal Restaurant! Yum yum :D Dinner was so nice :P

Stay tuned for our school visit tomorrow! :) 'A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step' and so our journey of the Uniformed groups of Edgefield Secondary School starts here in the first steps where we leave the departure hall of Singapore Changi Airport. And off we went! 1h 30min up in the air! As we landed in Tan Son Nhat International Airport, all of our bodies were stiff and tired. After collecting our baggage, we were greeted by our local tour guides, Anthony and Nancy. After a hearty meal at a Halal restaurant, we walked towards our hotel. Kenneth posed for the camera. :) Adrian and Chester with the girl guides. Our delicious dinner. The girls are doing their reflections for the day.
Two days after our first meeting, we met for the second time. We were much more efficient on our second meeting as we had distributed the workload before we met for the second time. Ng Ying and Jamie started working on the welcome speech and slides; Roxana, Tze Xuan, Yue Qi and Jia Yi started working on the welcome gift; Dilyn, Lynette and Maxine worked on a Social Studies Lesson Plan with the aim to teach the Vietnamese students the ethnic diversity of Singapore. Maxine, Dilyn and Lynette were working hard to plan a Social Studies lesson. Lesson planning is not as easy as it looks! Teacher Dilyn in action with Maxine and Lynette as her students. :) Roxana and Tze Xuan were working diligently on the welcome gift. Our final product! A group photo of 32 participants and 4 teachers will be placed right in the middle. :) Jamie and Ng Ying on their laptops working on the welcome speech and slides for the speech.
The boys were planning their cheers and games in the background. Although they looked like they were playing around :P, but they were indeed working on their games. We ended our second meeting feeling extremely productive as we had completed of the tasks assigned to us. Looking forward to Meeting #3 on 28th Oct 2014 :) |
